ABOUT KOYNE RESIDENCY
Focusing on developing a creative process of research, networking and production, Koyne Residency has a studio, accommodation and a development and feedback program based on the needs of each artist. Additionally, part of the program consists of meetings with selected curators/mentors depending on residency period, as well as a program of visits to art institutions in Helsinki. In addition to the focus on networking, the residency provides artists with curatorial support.
It is not necessary to produce works during the residency, so the time can be adapted to each artist's process. It may involve research and studies, testing ideas, or actual production. The artist has access to the studio where she/he/they can use equipment and tools as well as biomaterials in the studio's stock, upon prior agreement.
Koyne Residency is for both recent graduate artists and more experienced artists, for whom the residency program could boost their practice nationally and internationally. Researchers in different areas with a creative profile are also welcome.
Residencies can last from 1 or 2 weeks onwards.
The program encourages each artist to present their practice, research, work or project to the public during the residency. The form of presentation is at the discretion of the artist. It could be a talk, a podcast, a video, a text, a visualization, a performance, or something completely different. depending on residence time. We shape and organize the presentations in collaboration with each artist.
