Applications are now open for the MAXRES Artificial Material Experience Residency, organized by Arcaica and the Koyne Program based in Helsinki, Finland.

With MAXRES, we provide a platform for the exploration of bio-based materials, digital systems, and recycled technologies. The 10-day residency takes place between March and April 2025 and is awarded to one artist.

The residency covers the transportation cost to the residency located in Lima, accommodation and workspace, as well as a stipend of 500 Soles. The residency is open to all formats and welcomes proposals from all types of artists focused on the intersection between digital systems and biological systems.

Proposals related to performance, dance, audiovisual, electronics, and biomaterials are welcome.

About MAXRES:
The residency is inspired by the concept of vibrant matter. The idea that matter is not merely a passive recipient of human action, but rather a vibrant and active entity that actively participates in networks of relationships. We propose a connection between a multinaturalist approach that encourages the use of bio-based materials not only as means for artistic creation but also as co-creators in the process. It also focuses on the concept of technodiversity, which centers on different stages of technology and post-industrial recycled materials as mediators in the complex relationship between humans and non-humans.

We promote the use of digital media and environmentally friendly materials by facilitating access for interested artists to reliable instructional guides on audiovisual production techniques, VR platforms, electronic processes, and the production and use of bio-based materials and recycled technologies.

Workspace and Collaborations:
The residency includes a private accommodation area and a permanent workstation. You will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and mentoring meetings with curators, artists, and other professionals relevant to your work.

Where:
The residency is located in the Punta Negra resort area, with a beautiful coastline just a few meters away on foot, and about 40 minutes from the city center. The accommodation provided to the artist is a bungalow equipped with all necessary services and a workspace tailored to the artist's needs.
