The Koyne Residency in Helsinki promotes the creative process through research, networking, and production. It provides artists with a studio, accommodation, and a tailored development and feedback program, fostering an environment that adapts to each artist’s specific needs.

A significant component of the residency is the opportunity for artists to engage with curated mentors and participate in a series of visits to Helsinki’s key art institutions. This enhances their professional network and supports their creative endeavors with essential curatorial guidance.
Artists can produce works in different formats during their stay; they also have the freedom to focus on research, idea development, or material experimentation. The studio is equipped with various tools and biomaterials, which artists can access by appointment, facilitating a wide range of artistic activities.

The residency is open to both emerging and experienced artists, as well as researchers with a creative profile, providing a platform that could amplify their practice both nationally and internationally. Residencies vary in duration, starting from one or two weeks, and are designed to be flexible to accommodate the diverse processes of different artists.

Who Can Apply?
The Koyne Program values diversity and invites artists and researchers from all backgrounds to apply, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or sexuality. This inclusive approach enriches the residency experience with a broad spectrum of perspectives and artistic voices.

What the Program Includes? The program offers 20 m² self-catering accommodations in the Kamppi district of Helsinki’s city center. Each one-room space includes a kitchen and a bathroom. Artists work in a 25 m² studio located about 10 minutes by train from the city center, which provides 24/7 access and may be shared if necessary. Meetings with relevant artists and curators are arranged depending on the length of stay, facilitated by the program director. Continuous professional support and advice are provided throughout the residency. The residents’ practices are featured on the Koyne Program’s website, newsletter, and social media.
