Binders of the sea 




︎Sea weeds
The workshop is held  at Caracara Collective’s studio space in Vattuniemi, Lauttasaari. The duration of the workshop is approximately 3 hours.



What to Expect:

The workshop explores how to make biodegradable glue and biomaterials using fresh seaweed, agar agar and other natural ingredients.
The workshop will start with a seaweed foraging walk around Lauttasaari shores in Helsinki, and continue with a hands-on session at Caracara Collective’s studio space.
All materials will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring in their own dry raw ingredients (fruit peels, coffee grounds, recycled paper etc.) to sculpt with, using seaweed as a binder.


Meet Your Mentor:
Caracara is an experimental design studio that creates art and design installations and collections using biowaste. They promote sustainable design, envisioning a future without harmful materials and where waste is a resource.
